Content Submission Terms

Effective Date of Current Policy: November 28, 2025

These Content Submission Terms ("Submission Terms") govern your submission of travel journals, stories, photographs, and other content ("Submitted Content") to Portar, Inc. and its Layover Stories platform (collectively, "Portar," "we," "our," or "us") through layoverstories.com and portar.co (the "Platform").

By submitting content through our submission form, you agree to be bound by these Submission Terms in addition to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

1. License Grant

By submitting Submitted Content to Portar/Layover Stories, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable, and sub-icensable license to:

  • Publish, display, and distribute your Submitted Content on layoverstories.com, portar.co, and any related websites or platforms we operate
  • Share and promote your Submitted Content on our social media channels, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Use your Submitted Content in marketing materials, newsletters, advertisements, and promotional campaigns
  • Reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, and create derivative works from your Submitted Content for formatting, editing, or promotional purposes
  • Use your name, username, and any likeness provided in connection with your Submitted Content for attribution and promotional purposes

This license is non-exclusive, meaning you retain the right to use your Submitted Content elsewhere and grant similar licenses to others.

2. Ownership and Original Authorship

You represent and warrant that:

  • You are the original author of all written content you submit
  • You own all rights to the Submitted Content, including all text, photographs, images, and other materials, or you have obtained all necessary permissions, licenses, and consents to submit such content and grant the license described in Section 1
  • Your Submitted Content does not infringe upon or violate any third-party intellectual property rights, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, or other proprietary rights
  • Your Submitted Content does not violate any person's rights of privacy or publicity
  • You have the legal right and authority to enter into these Submission Terms and grant the license described herein

3. Image Requirements and Submission

Publication of travel journals on our Platform requires accompanying images according to the following requirements:

  • Required: 2 images must be uploaded with your submission
  • Optional: You may upload up to 3 images total (2 required + 1 optional)
  • Submission method: Images must be uploaded directly through the submission form at the time of content submission
  • Acceptable formats: JPEG, PNG, or other standard image formats as specified in the submission form
Important: Submissions without the 2 required images cannot be completed or published on the Platform. You must upload at least 2 images to successfully submit your travel journal.

You confirm that you own all rights to submitted images or have obtained explicit permission from the copyright holder to use and grant licenses to such images as described in Section 1.

4. Editorial Rights and Publication Decisions

We reserve the right to:

  • Edit your Submitted Content for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting
  • Make minor modifications to improve readability while maintaining the integrity and voice of your original work
  • Decide, in our sole discretion, whether to publish any Submitted Content
  • Determine the timing, placement, and presentation of published content on our Platform
  • Remove, unpublish, or archive previously published content at any time for any reason
  • Reject submissions that do not meet our content standards or quality guidelines

We will make reasonable efforts to contact you regarding any substantial edits, but we are not obligated to do so for minor corrections.

5. Your Retained Rights

You retain the following rights:

  • Ownership: You retain full ownership and copyright of your original Submitted Content
  • Republication: You may republish, reuse, or license your Submitted Content elsewhere without restriction
  • Attribution: When your content is published, we will provide attribution using the name or username you provide
  • Removal requests: You may request removal of your published content by contacting us at [email protected]. We will review such requests but are not obligated to honor them, particularly if the content has been integrated into promotional materials or archived content

6. Content Standards and Prohibited Content

You agree that your Submitted Content will not:

  • Contain false, misleading, or inaccurate information
  • Violate any local, state, national, or international law or regulation
  • Infringe upon the rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other personal or proprietary rights
  • Contain any material that is defamatory, obscene, indecent, abusive, offensive, harassing, violent, hateful, inflammatory, or otherwise objectionable
  • Promote sexually explicit or pornographic material, violence, or discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age
  • Contain advertising, promotional materials, spam, or solicitations
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organization

We reserve the right to reject or remove any content that violates these standards.

7. Review Process and Timeline

After you submit your travel journal:

  • A member of the Portar/Layover Stories team will review your submission within 5-7 business days
  • We may contact you to request clarifications or discuss potential edits
  • We will notify you via email regarding the publication status of your submission
  • Publication timing is at our sole discretion and may vary based on editorial schedules and content planning

Submission of content does not guarantee publication.

8. No Compensation

Content submissions are voluntary and unpaid. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • No compensation, payment, or royalties will be provided for submitted or published content
  • You waive any right to receive compensation for our use of your Submitted Content as described in these Submission Terms
  • The license granted in Section 1 is royalty-free

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Portar, Inc., its affiliates, licensors, service providers, and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, suppliers, successors, and assigns from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:

  • Your Submitted Content
  • Your breach of these Submission Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights or privacy rights
  • Any false or misleading representations or warranties you have made

10. Privacy and Data Collection

When you submit content, we collect:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your written content and images
  • Submission timestamp and IP address
  • Any other information you voluntarily provide

This information is used to communicate with you about your submission, publish your content with proper attribution, and maintain records of submissions. For more information about how we handle your personal information, please review our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Submission Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the state in which Portar, Inc. is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Submission Terms shall be resolved in accordance with the dispute resolution procedures set forth in our Terms of Use, including the arbitration and class action waiver provisions.

12. Changes to These Submission Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Submission Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by:

  • Posting the updated Submission Terms on our website with a new "Last Updated" date
  • Sending email notifications to active contributors

Changes will be effective immediately upon posting for new submissions. Continued submission of content after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Submission Terms.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Submission Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Submission Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Submission Terms, together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Portar regarding content submissions and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.
